It doesn’t matter who you are, we’ve all been beaten up and knocked down by this thing called life.

The degree will vary, of course, but each of us is in need of some level of healing from the bumps and bruises we’ve picked up along the way.

Maybe for you it was an emotionally-distant mother, or the death of a parent, or a relationship ending or a learning disability or poverty or injury or illness or bullying or any one of hundreds of other small and large tragedies that can befall us at any time.

The question then becomes this: how do we accept our experience, learn from it, and move towards healing and wholeness?

It’s a question that many of us wrestle with, myself included. The answer, I’ve found, is relatively simple.

Pen to Paper

While there’s no one-size-fits-all solution to fixing what ails us at the soul-level, one common characteristic of healing seems to consistently show up in my reading and research: a consistent journaling practice.

The benefits of journaling are extensive and have been noted again and again.
